Kadriorg Park

The leafy landscaped park of Kadriorg is where Tallinners come to stretch their legs and escape the bustle of the city centre. With a trio of unmissable art museums and a wealth of historical monuments, it’s a magnet for sightseers too. Kadriorg started out as the pleasure garden of Russian Emperor Peter the Great, who conquered Tallinn in 1710 and resolved to build a palace here for his wife, Empress Catherine I. It is from her that the park gets its name: Kadriorg is Estonian for “Catherine’s Valley”.
