Measuring Transfer

You know what it is, and you know ways to improve it. Now, how can you tell if the training transfer worked? The obvious answer is measurement, but measuring the transfer of training is neither always intuitive nor easy.

Why Measure?

Training departments and outside consultants are running into the organization bottom line every day. We need to show that we can help improve workers' performance and, in the process, the organization's profits. Measuring the transfer of training—that is, showing how training has led to performance improvements on the job—is one of the best ways to prove the value of training.
