Bea Nettles (b. 1946) received her MFA from the University of Illinois (1970) and her BFA from the University of Florida (1968), where her first photography teacher (1967) and later mentor was Robert W. Fichter. Nettles’s work also appeared in Bunnell’s Photography Into Sculpture exhibition. In 1969, Nettles began hand coloring photographs and using a sewing machine to stitch them onto cloth.
