Abstract

Virtual reality (VR) is a rapidly evolving technology increasingly used in education. This research presents a bibliometric review and analysis of the research on VR in education in emerging economies, using data from the Scopus database. The investigation revealed that there were 984 publications on VR in education between 1996 to 2022, with increasing trends and patterns in recent years. This study aims to discover the leading organizations, countries, contributors, publication sources, and most-cited articles in VR in education in emerging economies and identify the top thematic area in VR in education in emerging countries. VOSviewer and Biblioshiny tools were used to perform bibliometric analysis in the study. China was the most productive country, and VR in education publications and citations productivity rate gradually increased in the last decade, especially during and post-pandemic.
