J&S Food's digital transformation project is underway. Substantial progress has been made; the company equipped itself with an AWS IaaS cloud (Chapter 7, “Digitizing J&S Food’s Business Model Using AWS—Implementing the VPC”) that will host its ecommerce platform.

The company has also implemented a digital products and services development infrastructure in the form of an AWS DevOps platform (Chapter 8, “Implementing J&S Food’s DevOps Platform Using AWS PaaS”) that will support its digital products and services development projects.

Now is the go-to-market time—the time to deploy this operational model and infrastructure and make the company a leader in the digital food business.

Nevertheless, the chief executive officer (CEO) is cautious. And he is right to be so: “We have to make it gradually. We'll start with a pilot experiment project involving three regional stores.”

The company's board of directors wants the smart shopping bag digital product development project to serve as the basis for evaluating the new digital business infrastructure.
