ESG, although very important, is a broad concept that comes in many forms because different situations and contexts may be applicable for certain components of ESG rather than its entirety. ESG is often used interchangeably with other terms like sustainability, sustainable investing, responsible investing, impact investing, and socially responsible investing, and yet there are many facets to the various terms that have evolved in this space.
