My interest in evaluation started early in my career. What makes things work well? I thought everyone in the general public believed in the mission and goals of nonprofit organizations, but then I actually heard people laugh with stories about them! People were not convinced of their honesty, efficiency, and effectiveness. So I concluded that if NGOs performed better, they would raise the level of trust and support by the public, governments, corporations, media, educators, and professional associations.
