Civil society is an essential sector in society. Government cannot do everything. Business has its own focus. Healthcare workers and educators are essential, media has an important role, and essential workers keep us all going. But only civil society organizations collectively have as their overriding purpose the welfare and improvement for people in need and for the planet. For those of us who work in the civil society sector, our role is to provide support and services, inform and educate the public, advocate for improvements, and engage others as donors and volunteers – all to make this a better world.
