There are faux followers on Twitter, counterfeit professionals on LinkedIn, and more than 83 million fake accounts on Facebook.1At work the people are real enough, but not so much the relationships. In fact, a common relationship style reinforced in many work cultures is one authors Solomon & Flores call “cordial hypocrisy,” in which people “pretend there is trust when there is none.”2
