WHILE SUNNY WAS GONE, Ethan resumed his slow, awkward circuit around the Reading Room. Through the expansive window, he could see skiers in the distance, tiny action figures zigzagging their way down the slope. Ethan felt a pang of jealousy and frowned at his swollen knee, still aching and sensitive.
