5. TSP Overview
Now that you know what self-directed teams are, we can discuss how to build and motivate these teams. This chapter summarizes the Team Software Process (TSP) and describes how it can help you to build, lead, and motivate a self-directed team. The remainder of the book then describes how you can use the TSP to help you and your team develop a quality product, on its committed schedule, and for its planned costs. This and subsequent chapters also describe your role in this teambuilding and teamworking process and suggest how to handle many of the issues you will likely face. The chapter starts with a summary of what the TSP does and then describes how the TSP process does it.
