Preface to first edition
First, a word of explanation.
For over a decade, an earlier book, Basic TV Staging, provided an ‘anatomy’ of the set designer’s craft; discussing the tools, mechanics and techniques of scenic design in the TV studio.
But the television/video field has expanded considerably. So to suit current developments, we have extensively revised and widened the text, and this new re-formatted international sourcebook is renamed TV Scenic Design.
What is this book all about?
It is a summary of the principles and practice of scenic design. Here you will find details of design approaches, structures, and staging methods that can be used under a very wide range of conditions.
