Staging practices

It is not enough to provide attractive décor. It has to be organized in the studio so that the productional mechanics work. In this chapter we shall discuss various factors we need to consider when planning scenic layouts.

 

 

 

5.1 Suiting the studio

Studios come in all shapes and sizes, and their dimensions and proportions can have important influences on the entire staging.

The effective available height in a studio is the distance from the floor to the underside of hanging lamps. (The exact amount of space taken up by any lamp will depend on its design and the form of suspension used.)
