A video camera produces an electronic picture which can be transmitted and displayed on a TV set instantaneously; it requires no ‘processing’. This is called live television. As an event happens, so it can be seen. Multi-camera production technique uses a number of cameras which are switched to in turn to show different viewpoints of an event. This production method allows the material to be transmitted as it occurs or to be recorded for future transmission. If it is recorded then the material can be edited before transmission.
