My first stream was in May 2017, but that first time was something of an impulse. I knew there was this thing called Twitch and that Broadcast Gameplay was an option on my PS4, but as far as setting schedules, leading raids, interacting with Chat, and all that, I was oblivious. (I would say, “If there had only been a book that could have clued me in …” but had there been, I wouldn’t be here now, would I?) On the day Destiny 2 dropped — Tuesday, September 6, 2017 — I hosted a marathon stream, and with my drive to play more, I found the best time to play, which also became my best time to stream.

Now, here I am in Present Day, still streaming. It’s been an amazing journey.

Since I started streaming, I’ve banked a good number of lessons (some I cover in the next chapter), but I’ll be the first to tell you there are others who have more mileage on Twitch than I do. That’s why I reached out to some and asked them to share their thoughts.
