3xx – redirections

The 3xx range is all about the status of the resource or the endpoint. It indicates what additional actions must be taken to complete that request as the server is still accepting communication, but the endpoint contacted is not the correct point of entry in the system. The most common codes used are 301 Moved Permanently, which indicates that future requests must be handled by different URIs, 302 Found, which indicates a temporary redirect is needed for some reason, 303 See other, which tells browsers to see another page, and 308 Permanent Redirect, which indicates a permanent redirection for that resource (this is the same as 301, but does not allow the HTTP method to change).
