Given the conversion described above, it is certainly appropriate for an architectural entity/relationship model to provide a starting point for an object-oriented UML design, just as it can provide a starting point for relational database design. Indeed, the point of architectural modeling is that it is technology independent and can therefore serve as the starting point for any kind of design. The real differences are between the different approaches to design. In one sense, these are not the concern of this book, but it is worth discussing them to provide context.
