At the technology level, one significant difference in point of view between the object-oriented design and database design camps is the fact that the latter are concerned with storing data. This means the structure of data is important, since it determines how to organize data that are relatively permanent. Object-orientation, on the other hand, originated in real-time systems, and it is thus primarily concerned only with the manipulation of data.
