IDEF1X is a data-modeling technique that is used by many branches of the United States Federal Government[86]. It was developed to support the design of relational databases. It represents tables, with the relational primary keys to represent unique identifiers and foreign keys to represent relationships. It is therefore not suitable as a notation for conceptual entity relationship models.
