At a national sales conference in the UK recently I interviewed Phil Jones MBE, the UK MD of the technology solutions company Brother. I asked for a key lesson that has helped him and his team to adapt to a VUCA world, particularly whilst experiencing a lack of vision and clarity about the future. His answer was inspired and inspiring to all in the audience.
He said, “Don't try too hard to prescribe your future in too much detail.” He revealed that at his company, “We work on a philosophy called your DOT. Your dot on the horizon.
