With the magnifying glass in my pocket, I looked into the fifth portal, watching as it grew much brighter than any of the other portals before it.
When I passed through it, I found myself in a place that I had never been before, nor could even have imagined, yet it felt very comfortable. There were lights and colors before me, and beyond them stretched an expanse of bright, white light, but I could not see anything at all besides that, not even my own body. I felt no sensations, either, nor did I hear any sounds. What I experienced was beyond the senses I was accustomed to using. The setting was very hard for me to comprehend, and I figured trying to do so might distract from the experience, so I let go of my thoughts, surrendered to the moment, and became still.
Suddenly I sensed the beggar's presence with me. I could not see or feel him, but I knew he was there. I tried to speak but found that words were not possible, and instead began a nonverbal conversation through intuitive connection.
“What is this place?”
“It is Freedom. It is home.”
“Freedom? From what?”
“From mind-created limitations.”
“Is this heaven?”
“You can call it what you choose, as it has no name other than what you call it.”
“What are the lights and colors?”
“They are all aspects of you. Everything and everyone you experience is always an aspect of you.”
“I don't understand.”
“What do you know about the nature of white light?”
