As a leader, you are faced with many situations in which you must seek the cooperation of subordinates or colleagues to get the job done. In these instances, you must influence them to do what you perceive to be necessary. In influencing others, we hold certain assumptions about how to accomplish this task. These assumptions are related to how we use power in organizations. The following assessment will help you determine the relative strength of your six power bases. The use of power is an important building block of management style.
