The purpose of this section is to discuss some of the legal issues and considerations associated with CA licensing requirements, and the roles and responsibilities associated with CAs, subscribers, and relying parties. A brief discussion on the way these issues might apply in the context of a private enterprise PKI is also provided.

CA Licensing Requirements and Liability

In addition to the legal issues associated with electronic signatures, some of the technology-dependent legislation (both state and international) also discusses Certification Authority (CA) licensing requirements.
