The Present State of the Indian Economy and the Task Ahead

Development is a challenge globally, not just in India. It is India’s 73rd year of independence (1947 to 2019). In this chapter an effort will be made to take a look at the current state of the Indian economy and its future direction. India may be the 5th largest economy in total income, but it is 145th in terms of per capita income. The vision has to be that India will be in the top 100, if not top 50.
