77 Rhythm

The movement, fluctuation, or variation marked by the regular recurrence or flow of related design elements.

Rhythm plays a significant role in the development of an interior. When design elements are repeated, the intervals between those repetitions establish a sense of rhythm and movement to create visual interest. Elements of rhythm allow patterns to flow with progression, transition, and repetitions. Similar colors, materials, shapes, or gradations of elements from small to large contribute to this impression of movement as one experiences the space.
