An influential book written by Johannes Itten, a Swiss artist, designer, educator, and color theorist

Johannes Itten (1888–1967) was appointed as one of the first teachers at the Bauhaus school in Germany, where he taught from 1919 to 1923. He played a key role in the development of the “preliminary course,” which was designed to teach students the basic foundational concepts about composition, materials, and color.
