Guidance System Design

6.1  INTRODUCTION

Guidance is fundamentally defined as the process for guiding the path of a vehicle toward a given point. One of the primary functions of an autopilot is to guide the UAV to follow the trajectory. Most UAVs are planned to follow a predetermined and fixed trajectory. However, there are some classes of UAVs, mainly military ones, which their mission is to follow a moving target. In either case, the generation of a trajectory is the primary function of the guidance system. For the case of a fixed trajectory, the guidance system will be simple and straightforward.
