How to do it...

Before we apply a material for the landscape, we need to create that material. Let's get started:

  1. Create a Material and call it M_Landscape. Double-click on it to enter the Material Editor.
  2. To the left of the default channels, right-click and add a Landscape Layer Blend node.
  3. From the Details panel, under the Layers property, click on the + button to add a layer to your blend.
  4. Click on the arrow next to the newly added 0 property and expand the options for the layer. Change the Layer Name to Grass.
  5. Click on the + button again to add an additional later. Under the new 1 index, change the Layer Name to Rock.
  6. Connect the output pin on the right-hand side of the Layer Blend to the Base Color property of M_Landscape.
