10 Automating Your Database with Macros

Access 2010 offers a plethora of macro features that enable you to easily automate the applications that you build.

In this chapter, you’ll learn the basics of creating a macro. You’ll learn how to run an Access macro and how to modify an existing macro. You’ll learn many important techniques such as how to create an embedded macro, how to create a data macro, and how to create a drillthrough macro. Finally, you’ll learn when macros are appropriate and how to create a special type of macro: an AutoExec macro.

Learning the Basics of Creating and Running a Macro

To create a macro, click to select the Create tab. Then select Macro from the Macros & Code group. The Macro Design window shown in Figure 10.1
