1. Navigating Your Windows 7 Environment

This chapter will focus your attention primarily on the new navigation enhancements within Windows 7.

The Windows 7 Desktop

Although initially Windows 7 may look like legacy systems you have worked on dating back to Windows 95, this new OS from Microsoft has a few new navigation features that are sure to make you more productive.

Some of the features you will really appreciate include jump lists, a more flexible Taskbar, new Aero features called AeroShake and AeroSnap and much more.

If you compare the desktop of Windows 7 with what you’ve become accustomed to in Windows XP (and especially with Windows Vista), you’re going to be right at home (see Figure 1.1).
