Creating and Editing Playlists

By default, the music stored in the WMP Library is organized by album and artist. Although it's fine to listen to music a complete album at a time, Windows Media Player lets you organize your music however you like, by creating custom playlists.

A playlist is simply a list of individual songs, assembled from any album or artist in your music library. A playlist can be as short as two songs or it can include every song on your PC.

When you create a playlist, you don't actually make copies of the individual songs. Instead, the playlist points to the songs where they continue to reside on your hard disk. When you play a playlist, Windows Media Player accesses each song file in turn on the hard drive. However, ...
