Chapter 2. Setting Up: A Little Preparation Goes a Long Way

Whenever you hear someone describing a music program they enjoy, usually the person is referring to the recording capabilities, the instruments that come with said music program, the audio quality, or whatever. The thing you almost never hear anyone talk about is what lets you choose your song, your sound, and so on. In most software packages, this particular item is referred to as the browser.

Hopefully, you know what I’m referring to. If you don’t, let me describe it. When you go to open a new song, a separate window appears. It asks you to choose the file and so on. Ring any bells?
