Part 3 State Machines

Since state machines are an essential part of any sequential design, I have decided to devote an entire section to them. Any sequential controller is a state machine. Specifically, in terms of hardware design, a state machine consists of delay elements, combinatorial logic, and feedback from the outputs of the delay elements, through combinatorial logic, back to the inputs of the delay elements.
