As introduced in Chapter 2, we had identified 123 specific items that define what HR professionals should be, know, or do. Through factor analysis, we identified nine statistically distinct domains, or groupings, for HR competencies (illustrated in Figure 2.3). We then conceptually clustered these nine domains into “super-groups”—core drivers (three HR competencies, which delivered key outcomes and discussed in detail in the three previous chapters: Credible Activist, Strategic Positioner, Paradox Navigator), three strategic enablers, and three foundation enablers.
