Chapter 5

Cannonball Carl and the Castle Crashers

This chapter is all about using the mouse for player input in a game. You will learn how to get the mouse coordinates and draw a shape on the screen that moves with the mouse. You will use this idea to make a game where you get to shoot your cannon at bad guys hiding in their castle.

To make a realistic castle, you will learn about arrays and data. You will use DATA statements that tell the game how the castle should look, and then draw the castle accordingly. This is a very early form of level design.

Level design is all about designing levels for video games. Some people are really good at it and design game levels every day. Wouldn’t it be great to get paid to work on video games?
