Querying Data via HTTP Requests
Before you create .NET client applications, it is important to understand how HTTP requests can query and manipulate data over an OData service. When you have your service running inside your favorite web browser, you can manually type some requests. After all, a web browser is a 100% client. The first request you write is to show metadata. Metadata contain an XML representation of your data model, including full entity definition and additional objects, such as functions (described later in this chapter). You invoke the service metadata with the following syntax:
