Upgrading to New Versions of View

When you are considering moving between major versions of VMware View, such as 4.6 to 5, it is easier to migrate than it is to upgrade. (Note that major releases are full number releases, such as versions 4–5; whereas minor releases are dot releases, such as 5 to 5.1.) The reason for this is that there are often interdependencies that prevent one version from working with another. For example, because of the changes in the way View Composer deals with persistent and nonpersistent data, you often are not able to carry forward Composer-created VMs from one major version to the next.
