Creating additional VMkernel interfaces on a VDS

Apart from the default VMkernel interface for the Management network, a need might arise to create additional VMkernel interfaces on a VDS. For example, VMotion, iSCSI, or vSphere replication will need a VMkernel interface for communication.

Getting ready

Create a new dvPortGroup or configure an existing dvPortGroup with the necessary configuration such as VLAN, MTU, and LACP (if required) before you proceed with creating a VMkernel interface.
