The Legal Background to the Restraint of Monopolistic Behaviour in the UK

This appendix contains a brief survey of the main principles of the laws restraining anti-competitive practices in the UK as they existed in 1979, when the Conservative government came into power, together with the main changes in the law resulting from the subsequent Competition Act of 1980.

There are two different forms which monopolistic, anti-competitive practices may take:
