Appendix B. IBM Directory Server (LDAP)

WebSphere Portal uses the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) server extensively.

That’s why it’s important to understand the LDAP server concepts and be able to modify its

settings. This appendix provides basic information about IBM Directory Server on iSeries,

which implements LDAP. We refer to IBM Directory Server as

LDAP server throughout this

appendix.

This appendix also gives an overview of the LDAP concepts. This particular section of the

appendix is based on

, SG24-6193. It also provides instructions to help you modify the LDAP

administrator’s password and create a new LDAP suffix.
