The intent of this chapter is to introduce some vendor-based and free tools available for mobile forensic device analysis and discuss the basic tasks performed in a mobile device forensic investigation. The tools discussed in this chapter are not in any order or preference as there are many options available to an investigator or analyst. In addition, the tools discussed in this chapter are not inclusive or representative of all that is available to perform the tasks necessary for an effective mobile device forensic investigation.
