FAST FORWARD AND you’ve made it through the first few months! I hope you’ve been loving your new job and feel like there could even be more upward direction and wonderful experiences in your future.

What’s next? Where do you go from here?

Aside from your 40-hour-plus work week, what else are you doing to develop yourself and keep growing? In this organization you are now working in, how can you spotlight yourself in a way that gets you recognized and promoted, even from behind the scenes or on a screen, virtually, in person, or hybrid? Each situation brings its own challenges and blessings, and it is up to you to decide what scenario works best for you and how you can contribute to the company in the best way possible.

This is an important place to reflect on how you can keep your light on and bloom where you’re planted.

Development can be self-driven, company driven, or both. It can be internal or external. These days, in our busy work worlds, you can expect for most of it to be self-driven and that’s okay. Leaders are busy and many expect their employees to self-advocate for their own growth and continue to be more productive and engaged, starting from day one and well beyond.
