Richard Holbrooke

FORMER U.S. AMBASSADOR TO THE UNITED NATIONS / SPECIAL REPRESENTATIVE FOR AFGHANISTAN AND PAKISTAN

On January 29, 2009, Ambassador Richard Holbrooke was named special representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan in the new Obama Administration.

Previously, Holbrooke held the position of vice chairman of Perseus LLC, a leading private equity firm in New York, since 2001. Holbrooke served as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations from 1999 to 2001, during which period he was also a member of President Bill Clinton’s cabinet.
