Standing at the top of the world for the third time, Matt McFadyen was struck by an overwhelming sense of disbelief. He had made it to the North Pole again, grasping the arctic grail of polar exploration for a seemingly impossible third time. It was an astonishing effort, as impressive as it was implausible.
