Command Prompt

Unlike Windows 95, 98, and Me, Windows 2000 isn't built on the DOS architecture. However, Windows 2000 (and NT) still provides a simulation of the DOS prompt, which you can use to run the usual MS-DOS commands or launch other programs. You can cut and paste text to and from the Command Prompt window, use the up and down arrow keys to backtrack through the commands you previously entered, scroll up to review information that's no longer visible in the window, and use the right and left arrow keys to insert a missing letter in your current command, without having to type the whole thing over.
