CHAPTER 8
Socializing with Windows Live Spaces
IN THIS CHAPTER, YOU WILL:
- Learn how to create and customize a Windows Live Space
- Add a blog
- Use email to publish to your Space
- Determine who can view your Space
- Set up communications preferences
- View statistics
- Develop an understanding of how to delete your Space
EVEN THOUGH the Internet is a huge place, you can carve out your own personal part of it with Windows Live Spaces. Spaces lets you build a personal web page that includes a variety of social features such as blogging, a guest book (similar to the wall in Facebook), photo sharing, and more. By integrating it with other Windows Live Essentials products and services, your new Space can become a key part of how you keep in touch with family and friends.
A Windows Live Space has two modes of operation. As the creator and owner of a Space, you can enable an edit mode where you can change the look-and-feel of your Space and add new content modules. How you decide to design your Space is completely a matter of your own personal style and interests. Visitors to your Space will see the published version of your site, and you can control if the site is open to the general public or to just people you decide can view it.
Creating and Customizing Your Space
Creating a Windows Live Space is a fairly straightforward process. To begin, locate the More menu (shown in Figure 8.1) on the top of any Windows Live web page. Click the menu and select Spaces from the list.
