Managing TCP/IP Networking

Windows PowerShell provides a dynamic environment for working with TCP/IP configurations. If you want to install networking on a computer, you must install TCP/IP networking and a network adapter. Windows uses TCP/IP as the default wide area network (WAN) protocol.

Normally, networking is installed during Windows setup. You can also install TCP/IP networking through local area connection properties. Windows computers support IP version 4 (IPv4) addressing and IP version 6 (IPv6) addressing.
