Domain controller prerequisites: step-by-step exercises

In the first exercise, you will install the base requirements for a domain controller on a fresh installation of Windows Server 2012. This exercise will assign a static IP address, rename the server, and install the AD DS admin tools. In the subsequent exercise, you will add a new domain controller to a new forest.

Installing domain controller prerequisites

  1. Log on to your server with the administrator account.

  2. Open the Windows PowerShell ISE.

  3. Set the script execution policy to remotesigned. The command appears here:

    Set-ExecutionPolicy remotesigned -force
  4. Use the Get-NetAdapter cmdlet to determine the interface index number of the active network adapter. The command appears here:

    $ipif ...
