Deploying 802.1X Enforcement

The deployment of 802.1X enforcement consists of the following tasks:

  • Configuring Active Directory

  • Configuring a PEAP-based authentication method

  • Configuring 802.1X access points

  • Configuring remediation servers on the restricted network

  • Configuring NAP health policy servers

  • Configuring NAP clients

Configuring Active Directory

For Active Directory, you can optionally configure a security group for exempted computers.

To Create a NAP Exemption Security Group

  1. In the console tree of the Active Directory Users and Computers snap-in, right-click your domain name, point to New, and then click Group.

  2. In the Group Name box, type the name (such as NAP Exemptions), and then click OK.
