Adding and Removing Roles

Adding and removing roles from Windows Server 2008 can be done from either the Server Manager console or the command line. Both methods perform the same tasks and follow the same logic for which services get installed. It’s a whole lot easier, however, to use the GUI for this, so unless you’re installing lots of servers that all have the same configuration, we strongly suggest just using Server Manager for this. (We can’t believe we said that—we’re the quintessential command-line types for almost everything. But this is one time where graphical just makes sense.)
